A Bit of History
This rare and sacred lineage of ‘lomi lomi’ (massage) dates back to pre-Polynesian Hawaii and was originally offered as a once-in-a-lifetime ritual to empower those chosen that they might live into their purpose more powerfully, in service to their community.
One of its other names is ‘Ke Ala Hoku:’ Pathway to the Stars.
But this is not a journey far away into a cosmos outside of us, it is a journey inwards, toward the energy of life itself at the heart of our being.
It is a journey home.
As we welcome more of the life within us—which is the same life that permeates and enlivens all things, from the smallest cells to the largest stars—we create room for healing and growth to unfold at all levels of our being: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, etc.
However, healing within this paradigm is not about getting rid of the ‘bad’ and keeping the ‘good.’
The ancient Hawaiians saw all things, from the crashing of waves to the feeling of grief, as ‘ohana’ or family.
And every member of our family has a gift to offer, if we are open to receiving it.
This is not about fixing something broken, this is about awakening to the wholeness of who we already are.
And the more we awaken to this wholeness, the more brightly our inner light can shine through us into the world.
We are changed from within as we embrace who we are.
